As you might be able to gather, Sweetbottom Charters is a family affair. All three captains are US military veterans (Army and Marines). Between the three, there is over 100 years of fishing experience combined.
The history of our captains start back before any of them were born. Uncle Bud Besecker was a renowned outdoors man in Fort Lauderdale in the 1940’s to 1960’s. He held many state records for a period of time. He was well known for bass fishing in the Florida Everglades. This is where the story began.

Our captains grew up on the East coast of Florida
Thier experience is focused around inshore saltwater, offshore, and freshwater fishing. Captain Chuck lived and fished in the Florida Keys for 15 years.
Locals may recognize his voice as the local radio station DJ. Captain John started fishing as soon as he was old enough to hold a fishing pole and was driving boats before he could drive a car.
Meet Captain Mike
Captain Mike grew up in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In a family of fishermen/outdoors men, he had a great opportunity to learn along side Captain Chuck. Captain Mike spent many of his formative years catching mackerel, tarpon, snook, and pompano off of the Dania Pier.
If Captain Mike wasn’t at the pier, he was in the Everglades catching large mouth bass. Living in South Florida, Captain Mike learned how to operate his father’s boat by himself and started to fish for pelagic fish out of Port Everglades. Captain Mike is accomplished in diving for lobster out of the St. Lucie Inlet. Mike retired from the St. Lucie County Dive Team.

Bay Craft flats boat, 17 feet. Capacity of 2 clients. Perfect for inshore flats fishing. Get into the shallowest of water to chase the redfish, trout and snook.
Crevalle 25 Bay
Crevalle 25 Bay. 25 feet bay boat. With a capacity of 4 clients fishing and 6 for a family cruise/sandbar trip. This is the all around boat. This boat is perfect for the client that needs more capacity than the flats boat, but still want to be able to chase the redfish, snook, and trout. This boat is also great to get offshore to catch dolphin, wahoo, tuna, grouper, snapper, etc. It is the perfect sandbar boat, with a full bow of cushions.
Sea Vee
This is the beast! Sea Vee, 39 feet. This boat is available upon special request. Contact us for pricing. This is a high capacity, specialty boat. This is the perfect boat for the serious offshore trip. This is also a great boat for a special occasion where luxury is required.

Under the wisdom and tutorledge of Captain Chuck and Captain Mike, Captain John become the expert. While they all claim to be better than the other at fishing, a trip with any of our Captains is a great experience. We strive for each client to have a great experience and come away from the trip with a smile, hopefully a great story, and we will even through in some Dad jokes and sarcasm for free.
